Understanding the impact of hearing loss is critical. Attached at the bottom of this page is a document that clearly spells out the potential impacts on language, socially and educationally that different hearing losses may have on a student.

Hearing Loss Compared to dB. Anyone working in the field has run into a person who says, "I have a 50% hearing loss in my right ear". This confuses the person who has worked in Deaf Education as this makes no sense. At the bottom of this page, you will see an article that clearly explains why measuring hearing loss with a percent doesn't work. This is an excellent article. Let's continue our work of educating people with Hearing Loss as well as all the wonderful people who work with our students.
